This is a unique devotional book. Writers from all over the world contributed to it, often at great personal risk. They all know what it means to suffer for Christ’s sake.
But this is not a book about suffering. Quite the contrary. It sparkles with joy. It encourages us, who hardly know what persecution is, and it gives us a taste of how God is when the going gets really tough. We share in the joy and delight of people who have experienced it all.
The suffering writers are no heroes, far from it, but they honour Him who has become more dear to them than ever before. Collated by Open Doors.

“I wish I could write something so short and powerful that nobody would ever forget it. That is what this book deserves. Now, I believe I have found it. Read this book. You will then listen to people who have touched my own life and influenced it deeply.”

This book is exactly what i have been looking for scripturally based, practical readings and life style examples to read and experience. Brother Andrew has many years of experience to draw on

This is a book that makes you grateful to live in relative spiritual freedom. It’s humbling to think of how the writers still maintain their faith in spite of being persectued and tortured because of it. Even more inspiring is the fact that they are able to evangelise, and that they seem to have more joy in their lives than those of us who do not face their circumstances. It’s also quite a challenging read. I wonder as I read their stories if I would be so steadfast if I were in their situation. It’s a book I can recommend for personal faith-building and self-examination.

There just is nothing comparable, or only a few others, these are testimonies and experiences from people who have gone through persecution, their insights and wisdom. Jan Pitt of (Brother Andrew’s) Open Doors collected the stories, and they’re challenging, inspiring, and powerful.

These are encouraging testimonies of how God has strengthened believers, forging their faith in the fire of persecution and their words of wisdom to Christians around the world.
